Chestnut Grove Baptist Church

Chestnut Grove Baptist Church was founded in 1868, shortly after the official end of slavery. The church has gone through an array of changes over its 155 years of existence. God has allowed the church to grow and prosper, despite challenging economies.

Our congregation strives to do God’s will and love our neighbor as we love ourselves. The Church’s Missionary Ministry has gone beyond the community and financially supports the Rehoboth Jail Ministry and IMPACT (a faith-based community of churches in Charlottesville area addressing the needy). We pray that God will continue to bless us to serve the Chestnut Grove community (the place where many of us received our start), surrounding communities, and the world.

We believe our future is bright, because in challenging times, we have called on God and He has blessed us through each situation. Through Hope and Change, we believe His word from Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you, plans to give you hope and a future.
